The Instructional Designer & Developer provides instructional design expertise and technical support in the application of educational design and delivery methodologies, ensuring effective use of available techniques in creating and updating learning/course materials.
 

The Instructional Designer & Developer (IDD) serves as an expert resource to faculty in the organization and creation of new and revised learning materials. The IDD also assists in exploring emerging learning methodologies and educational technologies of benefit to the College and its educational programs. The position develops and delivers professional development for staff and faculty. The IDD is an instrumental contributor on cross-functional project teams.

Expected Contributions

1. SUPPORT THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, AND MAINTENANCE OF LEARNING MATERIALS

  • Work with faculty members to apply instructional design principles and best practices in online learning to the organization and development of new courses and learning materials.
  • Advise and assist faculty in revising and updating courses and learning materials.
  • Serve as an expert on instructional design methodologies, continuously monitoring the latest innovations in the field and the performance of new products.
  • Consult with faculty on instructional strategies and instructional materials based on best practices and current industry trends.
  • Implements accessibility and Universal Design standards and principles throughout the content development process.
  • Design, develop, and implement instructional materials using various elearning and multimedia tools. Evaluate product/service technology support requirements.
  • Support the assessment of product requirements considering current capabilities/needs to determine delivery feasibility.
  • Facilitate ongoing conversations regarding ways to improve the student experience.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of newly created and revised courses to ensure accuracy and functionality.
     

2. SUPPORT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN   METHODOLOGIES, EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PLATFORMS, AND EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY METHODS. 

  • Working with academic leadership continuously monitors and investigates new and existing learning techniques, continuously monitors and investigates new and existing products, analyzes educational technology trends, and reports on the latest innovations in the use and delivery of online learning.
  • Research emerging industry trends, emerging instructional tools, relevant studies, and current data to guide and drive the future of the department.
  • Research and evaluate the potential use of innovative eLearning tools and give recommendations to provide the best solution based on the educational need.
     

3. PROVIDE SUPPORT TO INTERNAL FACULTY TRAINING EFFORTS. 

  • Provide support and training to faculty on the capabilities and uses of the College’s learning systems technologies.
  • Create training content (i.e., presentations, videos, resource guides) for faculty and internal stakeholders.
  • Consult with and provide ongoing support to faculty and other internal stakeholders as needed to support best practices in online learning.
  • Identify opportunities for additional learning to support faculty and internal stakeholders and facilitate effective and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or general and business knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 4 years of progressive experience in Instructional Design, systems design & development, including multi-media systems, voice and data communications technologies, and management of technical work groups. 
  • A Master of Science degree in Instructional Design is preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with College faculty and other stakeholders.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Brightspace Learning System as well as general systems design methodologies, multi-media technologies, and IT practices/trends in the financial services industry.
  • Working knowledge of instructional development authoring tools like iSpring Suite, Articulate, SnagIt, Camtasia, Captivate, etc.

Salary Grade Minimum: $55,700 
The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, internal equity, departmental budgets, qualifications, licenses, specialty, and training.
