Description: Per course adjunct faculty for the Master of Arts in Counseling program's course, COUN 530-02.

Qualifications:
COUN 530-02 - Counseling Field Experience MFT/PCC

In person - Moraga, CA campus, Feb 6, 2023- May 26, 2023; Wednesday, 7:15pm - 9:15pm

Students are engaged in their fieldwork in clinical, school, or college settings appropriate to their program specialization(s) and career objectives. Weekly seminars are provided for the specific specializations of Career Counseling and Higher Education & Student Affairs, School Counseling, and Marriage and Family Therapy/Professional Clinical Counseling (MFT/PCC). In addition, program-approved field supervisors provide on-site supervision. This advanced training in the field includes interviewing, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, advising, educating, and counseling as appropriate to the students’ field placements. Also addressed is an integration of theories and techniques, as well as the cultural, legal, and ethical issues relevant to the fieldwork site and the students’ specialization(s). Students may present—in both formal and informal ways—client/student cases for peer consultation and feedback. Personal and countertransference issues involved in the students’ field experience may be identified and discussed as needed. The instructor for this course must have both theoretical and practical skills in a setting appropriate for the seminar.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have a M.A., M.S., or Ph.D. in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Development, Higher Education & Student Affairs, or a related field. Candidates must also have experience teaching at the graduate level in Counseling, Psychology, or a related area, or at least 3 years of experience as a practicing clinician (e.g., MFT, PCC, clinical or counseling psychologist), school-based mental health professional (e.g., school counselor or school psychologist), or counselor in a higher education setting (e.g., college/university).

Faculty who teach any PPS specialization course must have worked in preK-12 school settings in the last three years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current license in Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Clinical Counseling, or Psychology, or Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling, Social Work, or School Psychology.

A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, multicultural/international competence, social justice, clinical expertise, and familiarity with counseling theory and practice.
