Northeastern linois University invites applications to fill a tenure-track full-time Assistant Professor position starting in August, 2O23. The position is primarily in the social work department.

Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate (BSW) and graduate (MSW) social work courses such as field seminars, social work practice, social welfare policy, social work research, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and introduction to social work. Other responsibilities include student advising and serving on department, college, and university-wide committees. The successful candidate will have a doctorate degree in social work or a related fields, an MSWfrom a Council on Social Work Education (CsWE) accredited program, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, active scholarship, and service. candidates expected to teach practice courses should also have at least two years post-MsW practice experience. Successtul candidates should address, in the application, their abilities to work within a culturally diverse environment and to prepare students to work effectively in a world of increasing diversity. We seek candidates committed to socIal work education, teaching, online education, as well as research, service, and the mission of the university.

Both the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and the Master of Social Work (MSW) programs are in the College of Arts and Sciences at Northeastern Iinois University.

The BSW is a generalist program with six curriculum areas including, held practice, human behavior in the social environment, policy, research, andelectives. The MSW program has two concentrations: Practice with Children, Youth and Families, and Leadership and Change. A school social work specialization option is our most recent addition tothese concentrations. We are seeking candidates who canteach across the two programs (BSW and MSW), maintain an active research agenda,and provide service to the Social Work Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Northeastern linois University, and the professional community.

Candidates should address the following qualifications in their application: (1) recent experiences working with Latinx, African American, and other underserved or minoritized students in the classroom; (2) willingness to examine and remediate ones instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support minoritized students; (3) experience and skills with addressing issues of equity in the classroom; (4) experience and expertise in culturally responsive teaching, particularly as it relates to the relevance of students' lives, interests, and communities; and (5) demonstrated ability to address equity gaps within courses and classrooms.
