Deputy Director of Maintenance and Operations NEW

- Responsibilities:
A. Essential
1. Oversee and supervise Facilities Building and Mechanical Maintenance Department, Building Services, Landscape
Maintenance Department, and Work Center Control employees including work schedules, evaluation, discipline,
and assignment of specific duties.
2. Directs/assists with planning, development, schedule and implement: preventative maintenance, renovations,
contracts, deferred maintenance and safety for assigned departments.
3. Inspect facilities for normal operation, work completion, preventive maintenance program, and /or adherence
to safety practices.
4. Liaison to campus for communication and coordination with campus activities and FM activities.
5. Collaborate with university officials, outside agencies and/or consultants on campus operational projects
representing the department.
6. Coordinate training of in-house staff in their field of expertise.
7. Ensure enforcement of safety regulations for all Facilities Management staff in all on campus locations.
8. Oversight of assigned departmental budgets and staffing levels.
9. Actively participate in labor relations for departments assigned.
10. Remediate operational issues to minimize negative impact on the university while maintaining good customer
service.
11. Monitor expenditures to remain within fiscal year allocations. Recommend and implement appropriate
corrective action.
12. Demonstrate and guide supervisors in effective leadership and management strategies.
13. Ability to operate a personal computer and maintain University ECOM account.
B. Marginal
1. Acts as Director in absence of the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management in necessary operational
decisions.
2. Perform related duties as assigned. - Required Qualifications:
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
Eleven (11) years of progressively responsible management work experience in a private or governmental organization:
- Eight (8) years in the area of maintenance and operations required by the position AND
- Three (3) years supervising the work of a professional staff or
process within the maintenance and operations
- Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the above three (3) years non-specialized experience requirement
- Master's degree may be substituted for one (1) year specialized work experience
