Job Description:

OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Assistant, End User Support
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Associate Director of End User Services
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Day to day supervision of temporary or student support personnel

General Statement of Duties: The Staff Assistant for End User Support is responsible for assisting in the support of the University's end-user service technologies. In addition, this position supports both classroom and lab technologies and assists in supporting the needs of the IT Help Desk and Laptop Repair Depot.

Responsibilities:

1. (E) Responsible for assisting in the daily operations of student, faculty and staff laptop and desktop support.
2. (E) Image, set up, and deliver computers and peripherals across campus.
3. (E) Assist in the maintenance of labs.
4. (E) Assist in Help Desk ticket triage.
5. (E) Cover open shifts at the help desk and laptop repair depot, as necessary.
6. (E) Assist in classroom support.
7. (E) Assist in printer and point of sale support across campus.
8. (E) Create documentation for training and for IT reference purposes.
9. (E) Assist in the documentation of best practices, policies, and procedures for student laptops and campus computing support.
10. (E) Assist in the adaptation and integration of new end user technologies and services across campus.
11. (E) Assist in the training of part-time and student workers/interns.
12. (E) Assist in Orientations, Open House Events, and of the like.
13. (E) Stay up-to-date with potential security threats and viruses.
14. (E) Perform other duties as assigned.
15. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students.
16. (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan.
17. (E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.
18. (E) Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or 3+ years of experience within IT.
  • Experience with several operating environments, including Windows, Mac OS, Linux, ChromeOS.
  • Experience with basic network technologies and protocols.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiar with use of precision tools.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
  • Ability to lift over 30lbs.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The firm starting annual salary for this position is $50,000.
