Position Focus:
The Center for International and Professional Experience (CIPE) supports study, work, and research opportunities domestically and abroad for more than 5,000 Yale College undergraduates. The Director of Fellowship Programs provides strategic leadership for all fellowship activities within CIPE and oversees guidance to fellowship administrators in other divisions. The office manages the Student Grants Database, the International Study Award and Yale College's financial literacy and emergency funding site, FinLit and the SafetyNet emergency funding application.

As Director of Fellowship Programs, provide leadership for all national and Yale College fellowship competitions that advance institutional aims for student achievement and faculty engagement. Oversee funding application tools and informational resources for Yale College resources as needed.

Essential Duties:
1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas. 2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility. 5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies. 7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Superior written communication, verbal communication, presentation skills and database and computer skills.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Demonstrated excellent supervisory, management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work with students and faculty on collaborative mentoring practices.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Knowledge of current trends in the field. Demonstrated ability overseeing competitive fellowship opportunities.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

An understanding of working with a range of stakeholder groups in higher education. Academic advising experience. Demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Appreciation and respect for principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to engage with diverse individuals (age, gender, nationality, race/ethnicity, profession, sexual orientation, etc.).


Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Demonstrated leadership engagement in one or more nationally-recognized organizations, such as the National Association of Fellowships Advisor Significant experience living and/or working overseas, language fluency in addition to English. Ph.D. in related field.
