Job Description:

About Honors

Founded in 1978, the Honors Program at Baruch College (Honors) serves the

mission of CUNY, by offering students access to excellent educational

opportunities. The program emphasizes five key experiences: academic

engagement; leadership and service; global experiences; arts and cultural

engagement; and research and creative inquiry. An incubator of high-impact

learning opportunities, the program comprises Macaulay Honors College at

Baruch, local Honors programs, and Baruch’s National and Prestigious

Fellowships office. The Honors program attracts outstanding students and

offers them an intellectually challenging and culturally enriched education.

The Director oversees the holistic Honors student experience from prospect to

alumni status, including recruitment, admission, orientation, advisement,

academic and co-curricular programming, and support. The ideal candidate has

experience in academic affairs, program- and team-building, and creative

problem-solving in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

· Supervise staff, currently comprising seven full-time employees,

including three Macaulay advisors (who formally report through

Macaulay Honors College at the Graduate Center), two Associate

Directors, a Program coordinator, plus student workers such as

Graduate Assistants and Work Study students.

· Collaborate with Deans, Chairs, and faculty to create and offer Honors

courses. Regularly consult with the Honors’ faculty advisory committee

and Honors Faculty Director. As Director, serve on Macaulay Directors’

Council with Directors from seven other Macaulay campuses.

· Lead holistic advisement of students in Macaulay Honors College at

Baruch, local Honors programs, and National and Prestigious

Fellowships, implementing best practices in advising, student support,

and high-impact learning.

· Collaborate to support students with offices across campus, including

Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Life, wellness services, crisis

management teams, Study Abroad, Enrollment Management, Alumni

Relations & Volunteer Engagement, Advisement & Orientation,

opportunity program (SEEK), Macaulay Honors College, and others.

· Build an engaging, student-centered Honors student experience and a

robust slate of programming, including orientation, workshops,

activities, faculty lunches, and field trips. Collaborate on college-wide

events for Honors participation, including Convocation,

Commencement and the Research and Creative Inquiry Expo. Oversee

four peer leadership opportunities: Honors Program Ambassadors; First

Year Seminar Peer Mentors; Orientation Leaders; and student groups,

the Honors Student Council and Macaulay Scholars Council.

· Partner with faculty, the Undergraduate Committee on Honors, the

Provost’s office, and other campus partners to promote undergraduate

opportunities for research and creative inquiry, such as writing a thesis.

As the original founder of Research and Creative Inquiry Day/Expo,

Honors continues to support undergraduate research initiatives.

· Strategic planning and assessment of Honors Programs at Baruch.

Manage budget and operations, including tax levy and private funding.

Work with Development on donor relations.

· Lead recruitment and admission of Honors students, including highschool

students, transfer students, and current Baruch students. Ensure

that the student selection of first-year students is a faculty driven

process, committed to access and excellence.

· Create a strong alumni presence, such as an alumni advisory board.

· Oversee Honors’ digital presence, including Instagram, LinkedIn,

webpage, and weekly newsletter.

· Supervise seven sections of Honors First-Year Seminar.

· Support student access to high-impact learning activities, such as study

abroad, internships, civic engagement, undergraduate research/creative

inquiry, and arts and cultural engagement. Amplify liberal arts initiatives

at Baruch and CUNY, e.g., Writer-in-Residence, Feit Interdisciplinary

Seminars, student research and creative inquiry, and individualized

majors, including Baruch’s Ad Hoc “create your own major” program

and the CUNY BA.

· Oversee curricular exceptions, academic integrity, and student awards.

Collaborate on Academic Affairs events, such as new faculty

orientation, and other committees.

Compensation and Benefits:

$119,995-$132,987; Salary commensurate with education and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after

October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating

Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will

only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must

remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of

employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either

remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan

within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer

Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required

enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO

Opt-Out Request Form to Emblem Health. An employee, or eligible dependent,

must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by Emblem Health

before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required; a terminal

degree from an accredited college/university is strongly preferred.

Other Qualifications:

· Minimum 6 years’ experience in academic support functions in an

institution of higher education as a faculty or academic staff member

· Experience working with multicultural and multilingual student

populations

· Experience supporting students in crisis

· Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed approaches to student

success

· Experience with student systems, such as Peoplesoft (e.g., CUNYfirst),

EAB (e.g., Navigate) and webpage development

· Experience fund-raising and grant writing

· Experience with special student populations

· Experience with high impact teaching practices
