Basic Qualifications

At least 5 years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Drafting experience and proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Windows Explorer/file management, and a solid working knowledge of relational database concepts.

Ability to interpret architectural and construction documents and electronic files.

Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management/Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience using CAFM information systems highly desirable.
  • Experience using Microsoft office suite, including Sharepoint and Teams desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; effective organizational and information cataloging skills.
  • Excellent customer service, professional manner, strong oral communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize job responsibilities, take initiative contacting people for information, and work independently.
  • Knowledge of higher education space use standards (FICM), and experience in academic/higher education environment preferred.

Position Description

The CAD/CAFM Specialist is responsible for carrying out tasks associated with maintaining CAD architectural as-built drawings, CAD floor plan creation and/or migration, as well as CAD and space data validation and maintenance efforts for FAS’ portfolio of 300+ buildings and approximately 10 million gross square feet.

Essential Tasks:
  • Assume CAD management responsibilities for the accuracy and organization of architectural as-built drawings.
  • Conduct field audits to validate and update the accuracy of current conditions of CAD drawings and associated space information (e.g., physical alterations, room numbers, space use, departmental/program assignment, space occupant).
  • Perform drafting work in AutoCAD work and utilize Centerstone’s CAD tools, maintaining existing and implementing new/revised CAD floor plans and associated space data into the Centerstone system. Much of the process will involve collecting and analyzing CAD files, alteration, and capital project documentation, adding/editing/updating space polylines and architectural layouts to produce as-built floor plans that reflect existing conditions and conform to established standards (e.g, layer, linetypes, text, title blocks, file naming/organization standards, etc.).
  • Perform necessary space data validation and updates in Centerstone (for gross square footage calculations, room numbers, space use, department/program assignment, occupants, etc.) by conducting field audits, coordinating with project and building contacts, assisting with space surveys, and utilizing system tools and reporting.
Additional Tasks include:
  • Assist with development and documentation of standards and procedures associated with managing CAD and associated space data in the Centerstone system.
  • Perform document management activities related to CAD file organization.
  • Maintain an efficient work order record-keeping system for tracking building alterations, field surveys, work in progress, and completed tasks.
  • Gross Area Audits – analyze and validate building areas, according to FICM standards; document and produce gross area reports.
  • Carry out ad-hoc requests related to creating, updating, and providing CAD drawings, CAD layouts, and space information.
  • Conduct training and provide support for other CAD and Centerstone users.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge base of CAD and Centerstone environments to ensure success in carrying out responsibilities of position.
