The School of Health and Natural Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in Nursing at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2023. This includes an average of 4-6 hours of class/lectures per week and two days a week of clinical supervision in on-campus labs and/or in hospital and outpatient settings.  Applicants must possess a strong desire to teach in a department and institution with a strong emphasis on excellent teaching and continuation of scholarship that involves engaging and collaboration with undergraduate students. 

 

Responsibilities include a teaching load of 4/4 per semester, student advising, continuing scholarship and service to the University community.  Additional requirements as per the MSCA contract. Commitment to excellence in teaching, especially traditionally underrepresented and first-generation students, demonstrated teaching experience appropriate to the level of appointment, and evidence of scholarly/creative activity.

Requirements:

Minimum:

  1. An earned doctorate in Nursing preferred, although candidates currently enrolled in doctoral programs may be considered.
  2. A track record of teaching excellence as evidenced by student evaluations.
  3. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.

Preferred:

1.         Specialty in Mental Health Nursing.

2.         College teaching experience is preferred; ability to teach nursing content to undergraduate nursing students.

3.         Online Course development and teaching experience a plus; ability to integrate appropriate technology and software in teaching.

4.         Experience in simulation.

5.         Research that involves engaging and collaborating with students.

6.         Evidence of interest and success in mentoring underrepresented minority students is highly desired. 

7.         Candidates who can teach in multiple programs.
