VICE PRESIDENT FOR FINANCE AND OPERATIONS

 

Benedict College, a Historically Black College & University (HBCU) located in Columbia, South Carolina, invites inquiries and applications for the position of Vice President for Finance and Operations (VPFO).

Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the VPFO will be the Chief Resource and Business Officer of Benedict College responsible for the combined functions of operations and financial affairs. Overall responsibilities include overseeing business services, budget office, facilities management, and information technology. They will be strategic, collaborative, mission-driven, engaged, and a hands-on leader who will approach the role with a strategic resource management mindset.

The new VPFO will inspire confidence with the Benedict College president, trustees, faculty, staff, students, and community by engaging across the campus. A strong relationship builder, the new VPFO will find ways to encourage collaboration across both academic and operational building support functions to ensure the College serves students.

Founded in 1870 by a woman, Bathsheba A. Benedict, Benedict College is a private coeducational liberal arts institution with over 1,700 students enrolled in its 26 baccalaureate degree programs and 2 master’s degree program. Defying trends, Benedict College maintains a nearly equal male and female student population. This Midlands HBCU welcomes students from all 46 counties in South Carolina, 30 states across America, and 26 countries around the world.

Candidates will possess a minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory role in a college business office, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position. They will bring demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with college faculty, staff, administrators and governing boards, with experience in operational and strategic planning, policy development, and financial analysis. A master’s degree in accounting, business, or related field is desired.
