Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for a variety of positions to meet the growing needs of the Teacher Education Department due to growth in enrollment and fulfill positions open due to retirement of long-term faculty.

 

The Teacher Education Department serves approximately 86 undergraduates in thirteen different majors on campus and also includes the Teacher Licensure Program and the Early Childhood Workforce Program.  The Teacher Licensure Program is an 18 month online accelerated program for those with a Bachelor’s degree and want to pursue teacher licensure in the State of Illinois.  Early Childhood Workforce Program works with students who are employed in the field of early childhood education but are seeking licensure and a bachelor's degree. The Early Childhood Workforce Program is an online program. The Teacher Education Department offers programs leading to licensure in 13 areas and is collectively one of the largest on campus.  Collectively the Teacher Education department serves 140+ students across all initiatives.  These are online teaching positions.

 

Visiting Professor in Early Education (Early Childhood Workforce Program) 

 

Primary responsibilities will include teaching a range of Gateways aligned teacher preparation courses, including pedagogy and methodology, focused on developmentally appropriate practices, in Blackburn’s online, baccalaureate degree Early Childhood Workforce Program. This is an online teaching position.

 

Qualifications include Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Early Childhood, Curriculum and Instruction or another closely related field.  Demonstrated excellence in teaching, experience with the Gateways Credentialing System, and experience in working with children from birth to grade two are essential. The ideal candidate will be adept in the use of instructional technology, be familiar with Early Childhood standards, be committed to the concept that all students can be productive members of our communities, and be interested in joining a campus community that promotes diversity, respect, and inclusion.

 

 

Visiting Professor in Special Education (Teacher Licensure Program)

 

Primary responsibilities will include teaching a range of teacher preparation courses, including pedagogy and methodology, with an emphasis on special education, in Blackburn’s online, post-baccalaureate Teacher Licensure Program. This is an online teaching position.

 

Qualifications include Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction or another closely related field. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, experience with the edTPA, and at least 3 years’ experience in K-12 teaching and special education instruction are essential.  The ideal candidate will be adept in the use of instructional technology, be familiar with Illinois teacher preparation standards, be committed to the concept that all students can be productive members of our communities, and be interested in joining a campus community that promotes diversity, respect, and inclusion.
