Job Description

The Insurance Associate is a full-time 12-month position. This position will be responsible for providing customer service for the Student Health Insurance Office. These duties include assisting parents/students with enrolling or waiving the student health insurance, clarifying policy questions, assisting with partial refunds, and collaborating with Insurance Coordinator on ways to improve process.The Insurance Associate will also assist with improving outreach to students and parents to increase awareness of the health insurance requirement.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma with experience in health insurance, records management and office operations. Associates Degree preferred.
  • A history of demonstrating strong customer service skills, as well as ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Medical office experience and/or medical billing experience preferred.
  • Proficient with current office technologies a must.
  • Knowledge of FERPA and HIPPA and ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary information, customer service and contact source for students, their parents, university administrators and health care providers in matters regarding student health insurance. Also, work with insurance broker and insurance company on eligibility, waiver status, claims, plan and coverage questions.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to improve and ensure students are required to submit a waiver or provide proof of acceptable alternative coverage and accompanying communication strategy.
  • Work closely with the Health Insurance Coordinator and the Graduate School to understand the unique needs of the Graduate Assistants, Fellows and Research Assistants needs on the health insurance plan.
  • Organize and update standard answers to be used when replying to Orange Tracker inquiries.
  • Review student leaves and withdrawals to manage impact on the student health insurance plan.
