Job Description

Serve as one of the advisors for a diverse portfolio of Registered Student Organizations ( RSO ), acting as a touchpoint for several of the over 250 RSO’s. Provide support and education on policies and procedures to ensure RSO compliance and success. Assist with the planning, implementation, and contracting of their events and supply orders. Help in the support of large scale programs at Syracuse University through various performances, speakers, and RSO programming. Coordinate the marketing and promotion for RSOs meetings and programs.

Support the Assistant Director of Organizations with creating and implementing departmental assessment initiatives and reports. Support the new recognition process, re-registration processes, and roster updates for all RSOs. Assist with implementation of officer trainings, workshops, constitution creation, and RSO historical information with the Campus Labs platform (Cuse Activities). This position may include occasional evening and weekend events.

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in education, communications, counseling, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree in higher education or Student Affairs preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of HED or equivalent work experience in a university setting.
  • Preferred experience in planning, implementing, and executing student events and programs.
Job Specific Qualifications

This position requires a current and advanced knowledge of student affairs and student activities best practices. The successful candidate should have experience advising student organizations; as well as experience in developing and implementing large-scale, campus wide programs with the ability to read, edit and negotiate artist and agency contracts and house riders.

The candidate should also have experience in marketing and promotions of events as well as experience in creating assessment strategies to measure and evaluate our programs effectiveness. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents is required.

Responsibilities

Registered Student Organization ( RSO ) Consulting:
  • Advise and consult a diverse portfolio of registered student organizations.
  • Assist with planning and implementing events and programs, negotiating contracts, creating publicity and marketing campaigns.
  • Assist with officer selection and transition, promoting understanding of both University and governing body policies and procedures, and advocating on behalf of their organization.
  • Oversee and approve funding requests, process purchase requisitions and interdepartmental ID’s, and tracks expenditures from the Student Activity Fee of thousands of dollars for Recognized Student Organization events and programs.
Marketing/Promotions:
  • Assist with the coordination, implementation and maintenance of Campus Labs (student organization data management system) which includes creating a virtual Office of Student Activities with on line forms, registration processes, and information about all student organizations to promote campus-wide involvement.
  • Maintain and edit the Office of Student Activities website, RSO Handbook, Departmental Publications and Graphics, including supervision of graphic interns.
RSO Programming/Trips:
  • Plan, create and implement both small to large scale contracted events for organizations.
  • Serve as one of the professional support at campus programs.
  • Work with RSOs on travel arrangements for conference, games, trips.
  • Support all purchasing and equipment inventory for RSOs.
Assessment/Collaborations/Benchmarking:
  • Work collaboratively and effectively on a variety of office and campus wide programs/initiatives, including office assessment priorities.
  • Benchmark student activities best practices with other like institutions.
  • Develop assessment strategies and implement learning outcomes, program goals and criteria to measure if our programs are meeting the needs of our students.
Recognized Student Organization ( RSO ) Registration Processes:
  • Support in planning, marketing and implementing the new RSO recognition process and the annual re-registration process for all Recognized Student Organizations (RSO’s).
  • Support the design and implement mandatory officer trainings, workshops, and compliance with the Campus Labs platform.
