Essential Duties & Responsibilities / Required Knowledge & Experience

Position Summary

Responsible for the development of new training curriculum in various modalities including video and online asynchronous courses. Deployment of training solutions including in-person, virtual-led and support sessions for staff and students at Dallas College. Engaged in training on software supported by Dallas College and their partners.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to use a variety of software applications in a business environment.

  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs with proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).

  • Ability to assess needs and produce training programs and materials to target end user needs. Skills to effectively direct trainees and other professionals while in a training class environment and to properly evaluate comprehension and application of subject material.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in a team environment. Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to design programs that meet both organizational and individual training needs.

  • Ability to use ethical judgement and discretion and maintain confidentiality as required.

  • Ability to manage interactions with diverse individuals inside and outside the organization and provide effective customer service and support.

  • Ability to gain knowledge of best practices and technological trends through professional development activities.

  • Must be able to communicate complex information clearly to trainees with different levels of skill and knowledge.

  • Ability to create or present new training materials and presentations or edit and revise existing training materials and presentations.

  • Ability to change course and adapt to the needs of the students.

  • Ability to learn new software applications in a timely fashion and demonstrate product expertise. Understand implementation process, methods, and deliverables. Experience in designing and developing instructor- led content with technical subject matter content.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with diverse individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Must have effective presentation, organizational, planning, and time management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to engage with Project managers and subject matter experts in kickoff meetings with stakeholders, assessing their needs, suggesting best-fit training materials based on previous experience.

  • The ability to work on multiple, complex projects; strong project management skills; with the ability to multi- task and prioritize projects, assignments, and deliverables. Maintains an understanding of learning principles and the ability to apply them to the development and delivery of the learning experiences.

  • Coordinate and serve as a project lead in end-to-end training development projects for groups of all sizes at Dallas College.

  • Fulfill capacity as a mentor for other team members in the creation of content, lead team projects in the development of manual, online course, video content, and in-person sessions.

  • Ability to provide train the trainer sessions for more complex software to train teammates and leads in stakeholder groups so that they too can inherit the skillsets required to work independently.

  • Engage in the review of all creative content for quality, functionality, and accessibility, all the team’s content is quality assured from design to deployment.

  • Identify training gaps at the institution from a business analysis perspective. Suggest new modalities we can explore in our approach to training employees with an innovative approach to address the training and workforce needs at an enterprise level.

  • The ability to identify needs, analyze and logically organize complex information and transform that into professionally designed engaging and effective training materials.

  • Experience interviewing and working with subject matter experts in a multidisciplinary environment to develop training content.

  • Knowledge of the most up-to-date training methods, taking account of different levels, learning styles, and methods of delivery for all types of training.

  • Knowledge of more advanced video/ audio/ image editing techniques/ software to create training deliverables.

  • Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive team with a shared vision, consensus decision making, accountability for improvement, which operates with trust & openness.

  • Demonstrated expertise in program and course/ materials design principles and development.

  • Proficiency in instructional design theories with a solid knowledge of course development software tools (E.g., Camtasia, Articulate 360, Adobe suite).

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills, with experience using multiple forms of training delivery methodologies. Uses problem – solving skills, analyzing the issue(s) and work collaboratively with colleagues to resolve issues and implement new solutions.

  • Consults with staff, students, and administrators on the design, development of instructional resources for the betterment of Dallas College stakeholders.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make presentations and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Occasionally may be required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus two (2) years of work-related experience including one (1) year of experience in end user training.

  • Must have current and valid Texas driver’s license required for off-site travel.

  • On-call, work hours may extend beyond the regular, eight hours, Monday-Friday, workday, including weekends and holidays to provide immediate support due to system failures on a 24/7 basis.

  • Official transcripts will be required.
