Job Description

The Learning and Professional Development (LPD) team works closely with other areas within Information Technology Services to develop trainings and help increase adoption efforts of information systems at NAU. In addition, LPD collaborates with other partners across campus to create a wide variety of trainings with a technical component. LPD also offers consulting services to departments across campus. The Intermediate Technical Training Analyst will be responsible for designing and delivering technical training programs for information systems and user personnel. The role requires the ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with other teams across campus. The Intermediate Technical Training Analyst will also be responsible for designing in-house training programs and measuring training effectiveness.

Training Design and Development - 50%
  • Develop, write, edit and update online learning materials, including interactive trainings, software simulations, computer-based trainings, assessments, quick reference guides, and documentation using a variety of authoring tools and multimedia elements.
  • Create engaging and impactful learning experiences that align with instructional design principles and meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop course content that aligns with learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop their desired training offering, including multimedia and graphic media, from concept to final output, ensuring the quality and accuracy of all deliverables.
  • Write and edit scripts for online trainings and other learning materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy of content.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize workload to meet deadlines, ensuring timely completion of all projects.
  • Revise online trainings and other materials as needed to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness of training content.
  • Check and corrects links, troubleshoots problems with appropriate college/department personnel ensuring the functionality and accessibility of all online training materials.

Technology Adoption - 20%
  • Collaborate with the ITS Communication team to ensure timely and effective communication of training offerings to campus and campus stakeholders.
  • Assist the team and department with adoption plans and efforts.
  • Use ServiceNow to manage and resolve user tickets related to training providing timely and effective customer service to end-users.
  • Pull key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of training programs and adoption efforts, analyzing data and making recommendations for improvements as needed.

Collaboration and Teamwork - 15%
  • Partner with other campus departments to develop and execute events related to technology and training, leveraging strong interpersonal and communication skills to build productive relationships with stakeholders across campus.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and other campus partners to provide badging services, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the team, including part-time staff and student employees, to ensure effective planning, delivery, and evaluation of training programs.
  • Demonstrate a spirit of cooperation, positive attitude, and mutual respect within the Learning and Professional Development team, SPIES, other teams within Information Technology Services, and the wider university community, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer service excellence.

Documentation and Reporting - 5%
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of training activities and employee participation/progress, using a range of tools and systems to ensure effective tracking and reporting of key metrics.
  • Establish and maintain an electronic inventory of training tutorials and documents, organizing and cataloging materials for easy access and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Professional Development tram to develop and maintain a comprehensive training portfolio for NAU.

Consulting - 5%
  • Provide consulting services to departments across campus on instructional design.
  • Work with departments to develop learning solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Other - 5%
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • On-call duties may be required for this position.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.; AND,
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience; OR,
  • A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A robust portfolio of instructional design work strongly preferred.
  • Experience providing instruction to adults online and/or in a formal classroom setting.
  • Experience in e-learning authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or similar applications.
  • Significant experience with, and orientation towards, working in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ITS-supported applications and tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Educational Technology or related field AND one year working with technology or delivering technology training or graphic design/layout experience.
  • Associate's degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Educational Technology or related field AND three years working with technology or delivering technology training or graphic design/layout experience.
  • Five years of developing and delivering technology training or graphic design/layout experience as the primary function of the position.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience Adobe Creative Suite, Captivate, Camtasia, and Microsoft Products.
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline and Rise 360 is a plus.
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) is a plus.
  • Experience or training in instructional design with an understanding of adult learning theories and best practices.
  • Experience administering content management systems and using multiple operating systems.
  • Ability to explain highly technical concepts to end users in a way they can understand.
  • Experience with interface/information design, graphic design and layout tools is a plus.
  • Broad understanding of web and browser-related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to take projects from concept to completion, and work on multiple projects meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new tools and programs quickly.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully with clients.
  • Strong customer service skills, including a patient, approachable and flexible nature.


Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary

Salary range begins at $54,779. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

Benefits

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date.
