The salary range for this position is $41,200- $48,000. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, training, and qualifications.

The Communications and Marketing Assistant for the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences provides support to the CLAS Communications and Marketing Team on major projects and key initiatives related to student recruitment and strategic enrollment. Other areas of support include event planning, social media, web design, and internal and external communications. This position will work collaboratively with CLAS Deans and internal team members, CLAS Departments and across divisions and report to the CLAS Data Analyst, Marketing and Communications Senior Manager.

Major Projects and Key Initiatives (55%) – Support the CLAS Communications and Marketing Team on major projects and key initiatives related to student recruitment and strategic enrollment. Project duties will mostly include responding to service requests and marketing, branding, communications, and/or design tasks as assigned.

Events and Programming (25%) – Aids in planning large events for the College and provides support for Department events. Event planning duties include arranging catering, venue requests, making calendar posts, overseeing swag inventory, setting up cleaning services, in addition to preparing and disseminating professional communications regarding events and programs.

Social Media (10%) – Collaborates on social media posts and campaigns. Work with the team to increase user engagement and gauge success of campaigns.

Websites (5%) – Assists with all service requests related to website creation and maintenance. This position will serve as the main trainer for department web authors and will make requested updates to CLAS and departmental websites.

Internal and External Communications (5%) – Helps with producing internal and external communications including newsletters, publications, press releases, blogs, etc., responsible for checking and responding to general inboxes.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience working on a team
  • Ability to meet project milestones and key deliverables
  • Proficient with web content management platforms including WordPress
  • Demonstrated communications, social media, and large event planning experience
  • Understands the basic concepts of equity, inclusion, and justice
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a college/university setting
  • Experience working with underrepresented students specifically, low-income, first-generation, and students of color
Work Hours/Type

This will be a hybrid work schedule, with remote and required in-person days.
