Schedule Information: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (With occasional evening hours)

Hours per Week: 37.5

Duties of Position: Provides leadership, support, and supervision in the delivery of basic needs to Harper College students. This includes program development and delivery to provide comprehensive services to address non-academic and social support needs of students. Develops relationships and resources with internal and external partners to support students related to food, housing insecurity, technology and emotional/mental health needs in a one-stop ‘advocacy and resource center’ model. Responsibilities also include the creation of programs and services to assist students with personal, social, and academic challenges associated with the student experience. Provides oversight in the scheduling, logistics and coordination of services in collaboration with on-campus partners in Student Affairs, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Foundation and Academic Divisions and is an expert in identifying community-based resources and partnerships to support students whose needs may be best met outside of the College.

Manages operations for the Hawks Care Resource Center. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates front office staff and peer educator student workers to provide excellent, student-centered customer service.

Develops relationships with key community resource providers to ensure accurate and up-to-date information about local basic needs, mental health and other resources to support students.

Provides leadership and triage support to coordinate direct student service particularly with referrals from other campus stakeholders.

Key member of the Basic Needs Advisory Team to assure continuous improvement, coordination and responsiveness of services with other on and off campus partners.

Establishes business processes, creates and maintains policy/procedure manuals including the coordination of services with partner organizations providing community-based support.

Support the Associate Dean of Students in establishing and monitoring the scope and direction of the Hawks Care Resource Center, ensuring its operation is in alignment with Divisional and College-wide goals and intended service outcomes.

Coordinates and oversees the procurement, distribution, and processing of resources, such as gift cards as part of the Hawks Care Resource Center.

Coordinate with the Associate Dean of Students, Counseling Faculty, and Human Resources/Wellness Manager on the delivery of State of Illinois mandated Mental Health First Aid training for Harper employees and student leaders.

Develops and coordinates staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage in the Center including the development of peer educator roles.

Manages the use of recordkeeping software (Titanium) and ensures that all documentation of service notes and records are created in a manner that is consistent with professional standards and that documents are securely stored.

Monitor budgets, establish funding priorities and approve programs and services.

Analyzes, tracks, and reports data regarding Hawks Care services and makes appropriate recommendations to Associate Dean and other College leaders.

Provides Student Affairs leadership (Associate Provost, Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Students) with regular reports related to Center operations including annual evaluations of services, outcomes, strategies and recommendations for improvement to provide optimal services to support student success.

Plans and facilitates weekly staff meetings, including professional development sessions, trainings and workshops with Center staff and faculty.

Partners with the Associate Dean to set agendas for regularly scheduled staff meetings to provide support and direction to coordinate services.

Coordinates, with the Associate Dean of Students, the establishment of policies and procedures for center operations and communicates clearly with the staff.

Provides leadership for the development and provision of culturally informed support services in both individual and group formats.

Responsible for developing and delivering training programs and professional development to ensure staff are trained in crisis response, in collaboration with the Harper College Police Department.

Serves as member of the Associate Dean’s Leadership Team. Works jointly with other divisional leadership to provide input on strategic direction and operations of the Center.

Stays abreast of national, state, and local trends affecting the operation of basic needs-focused services in higher education. Attends professional conferences, keeps current with best practices and shares information with colleagues.

Participates in College and divisional committees as appropriate.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Higher Education or a closely related field. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred

Experience Requirements: Three years of managerial and direct student service experience in a higher education setting. Demonstrated leadership in support of holistic student growth along with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Spanish speaker preferred.
