Description

The Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovation Center (EPIC) at Clemson University invites applications for a tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR position to be filled by an innovative researcher whose research interests complement our current program strengths (https://scienceweb.clemson.edu/epic/).

EPIC is an interdisciplinary research cooperative at Clemson University. It stands at the forefront of biomedical research on eukaryotic pathogens, which are the causative agents of some of the most devastating and intractable diseases of humans including malaria, amoebic dysentery, sleeping sickness, Chagas disease, toxoplasmosis, trichomoniasis, PAM, aspergillosis, and fungal meningitis. The center is supported by a NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence Award (Phase 1 complete, currently in Phase 2). The Center provides a first-rate environment for engaging students and colleagues in collaborative research.

Located on Lake Hartwell in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Clemson University is South Carolina's public land-grant University. As a Carnegie R1 Institution, Clemson has excellent research resources including the globally ranked Palmetto high performance computing cluster, the Clemson University Genomics and Bioinformatics Facility, state-of-the-art light microscopy, electron microscopy, state-of-the art vivarium facilities, and a multi-user analytical laboratory. There are many opportunities for collaboration across a wide group of partners on and off campus.


Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, cell biology, or a related discipline with a minimum of two years of postdoctoral training.

The successful candidate is expected to develop an extramurally funded research program, participate in graduate student training programs and contribute to teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses.

A competitive salary commensurate with background and experience and a benefits package are included. Attractive start-up funds and state-of-the-art laboratory space will be provided.
