Mount Aloysius College, recognized by ModernThink as a “2022 Great College to Work For,” invites applications for an experienced, full-time Surgical Technologist Instructor in DuBois to begin mid-Spring 2023.  This is a 9-month appointment, with most work performed between August and May. The Surgical Technologist Instructor would be hired part-time during the spring 2023 semester to participate in labs and courses one day a week in Cresson and begin the full-time appointment on August 1, 2023, in DuBois. The successful candidate will serve as the primary contact and liaison between the Surgical Technologist program, DuBois Regional Medical Center, and students at the DuBois location.

The full-time Instructor is responsible for collaborating with on-campus faculty to oversee the supervision, instruction, and evaluation of students in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings. This position will also complete departmental duties and administrative tasks as assigned. Regular travel to utilized clinical sites is required. Start times vary between 6:30 am and 8:00 am and end between 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm, depending on student placement.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency (for example- ARC/STSA) and possess a credential in the field of Surgical Technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA). 

An associate degree in the surgical technology field is preferred; however, candidates with appropriate experience who are willing to attain an associate degree will also be considered.  A minimum total of two years’ experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in a surgical technology program required. Teaching experience at the collegiate level is highly encouraged. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is necessary, as well as demonstrated ability to multitask and maintain confidentiality.
