The Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee invites applications and nominations for a non-tenure track position in the Department of Finance. The position is a hybrid position with the initial assignment being equally distributed with 50% responsibility teaching and 50% responsibility engaging industry. The position is open to all ranks, and title will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications. We will conduct interviews virtually.

Fifty percent of responsibilities of the position is teaching undergraduate finance classes. The other fifty percent includes engaging with industry to (1) improve employment opportunities for finance students, (2) enhance industry collaboration with the Department, and (3) increase support for various programs and initiatives within the Department. Candidates must be able to work effectively within the Department, College, and University.

Position Available: August 1, 2023

Salary: Competitive.

Qualifications

Required: A Master’s degree or higher in finance or a related field in hand as of the starting date of employment.

Preferred: The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in finance or a related field, a strong interest in student success, and have demonstrated effectiveness in communicating with stakeholders and teaching at the undergraduate level. Industry experience or related certifications is desirable.

Program Information

The Department of Finance is one of seven departments within the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee. The Department has a mission that includes excellence in research, teaching and service, while working within the frameworks of the College’s overall mission. Finance is a popular major at the University of Tennessee and includes curriculum at the undergraduate, MBA, executive and doctoral levels. The Department qualifies as a CFA®-affiliated program and partners with Dalton Education to offer a CFP® education certification program. The Department houses the Masters Investment Learning Center, which offers Bloomberg training, boasts four student-managed investment funds (Torch Funds), and offers a Real Estate collateral. The Department values a collegial environment where faculty members work well with each other, with students, and with our stakeholders.
