Job Description
The Sr. Designer will conceptualize, plan, and design a variety of materials to be used across high profile flagship digital and multimedia channels. With a strong focus on creativity and innovation, the Sr. designer will create in a highly technical environment working independently to advance high-profile initiatives. This role is essential in producing exceptional work for a variety of campaigns, events, and branding initiatives and requires a high degree of confidence and autonomy, as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with marketing colleagues to ensure a consistent brand image, alignment, and use of University’s brand guidelines with orientation to targeted audience and campaign goals and objectives.

Job Description

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field. Minimum of 6 years of professional work-related experience.
- Must provide a portfolio of material that demonstrates excellence in digital, multimedia as well as conceptual thinking and examples of working within brand guidelines.
- Examples of work showcasing design excellence as part of broader campaigns that yielded tangible results.
- Proficient knowledge of latest software versions across MS Office, asset mgmt., Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD. Illustration skills beneficial.
- Strong understanding of digital design methodologies, digital platforms (incl. social media) and best practices.
- Passion for the craft: design, creativity, technology.
- Demonstrate: Strong typographic and color skills. Expertise in principles and practices of graphic design.
- Ability to design/build HTML5 display/animated banner ads is preferred.
- Strong ability to understand industry standards when producing ADA accessible compliant work.
- Ability to analyze graphic/technical information and create interpretive illustrations.
- Experience with digital photography for publication/advertising purposes preferred.
- Outstanding written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to collaborate, multi-task, and solve challenges with a solid point-of-view, and open to different opinions in a team centric operation.
- An innate desire to push yourself, the people around you and the projects you work on.
- Takes direction well. Manage stressful situations, solution-oriented, positive attitude.
- Move with urgency, manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Close visual acuity to perform tasks related to design. Flexibility and ability to position oneself to art direct a variety of images.

- Serve as lead designer to conceptualize, plan, design, and produce high profile digital, multimedia, and print assets consistent with Syracuse University’s brand guidelines.
- Uses a high degree of skill and creativity to drive conceptual design work for national campaigns.
- Champion excellent design and craft standards.
- Create and manage original, conceptual, and visually compelling work.
- May give art direction, guidance, and assignment to Designers.
- Creates thoughtful solutions to advance business goals and marketing strategies. Always consistent with Syracuse University’s brand guidelines.
- Lead conceptual designer on significant or national campaigns, events, and University brand work.
- Concept and create with a multidisciplinary team (design, production, digital, photo, and video team members) as needed to carry concepts across collateral.
- Stay up to date with latest design and technology trends.
- Collaborate with colleagues within Marketing on visual identity standards, design for accessibility, new technologies and resources.
