Otero College (Otero) seeks a collaborative and innovative leader with excellent interpersonal skills, strong business acumen, and a commitment to student success to serve as its 6th president. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to the Colorado Community College System’s commitment to equity in who it serves, employs, and how it measures success, and will demonstrate a willingness and ability to integrate into rural communities, their culture and lifestyle.

Reporting to the CCCS Chancellor, the Otero President is the face of and provides leadership for the college by establishing strategies and measurable goals to increase enrollment and ensure equity in student access and success at the college. This includes coordinating and assisting college faculty and staff to achieve maximum performance and results and celebrating successes. Through strong, positive leadership, the president ensures the efficient and effective use of the college resources, safeguards its assets, maintains appropriate internal controls, and ensures the quality and integrity of all financial and non-financial reporting and disclosures.

Otero is part of the 13-institution Colorado Community College System (CCCS). Founded in 1941, Otero is a comprehensive two-year residential college located on an attractive 40-acre campus in La Junta, CO, serving 1,700 students from over 20 countries annually. Otero is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution providing two-year degrees, transfer degrees in preparation for four-year bachelor’s degree programs, and workforce ready certificates. The dedicated faculty and staff provide a learning environment that facilitates maintaining high academic standards, relationship building, and academic and emotional support, that encourages all students to become the best version of themselves.
