The Department of Music at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Jazz Studies beginning Fall semester 2023. We seek a specialist in Jazz Studies with a secondary field in commercial music, musical theater, or another area that complements the current strengths of the department; all related areas of research/specialization will be considered. A demonstrated record of established or growing research is expected. Completion of PhD or DMA in Jazz Studies is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.

The successful candidate will teach five courses including History of Jazz, The Musical Experience, as well as other appropriate departmental courses with the possibility of teaching an elective in their speciality/area of focus.
