NSF’s Directorate for STEM Education (EDU) is seeking a candidate for Division Director, Division of Equity for Excellence in STEM (EES). The Directorate provides research-based national leadership in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning and education.  Within EDU, EES leads NSF’s efforts to enhance the quality and excellence of STEM education and research through broadening participation by historically underrepresented groups – minorities, women and persons with disabilities. The successful candidate will possess an established record of achievement and leadership in academe, government or not-for-profit research and education endeavors to develop a diverse science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce ready to advance the frontiers of science and engineering for society, and a STEM-literate public. He/she should have experience at the national level and at the university level in shaping innovations and transformative strategies that foster basic and applied research regarding broadening participation in STEM.  In addition to having a strong record of research and education accomplishments, the Division Director must be experienced and competent in technical, financial, and administrative management.  He/she must work well with people, be an effective communicator, and act as a mentor to continuously develop the diversity of talents and skills of his or her colleagues at all levels.

 

 

 

Appointment to this Senior Executive Service position may be on a career basis, or on a one- to three-year limited-term basis, with a salary range of $185,335 to $206,950.  Alternatively, the incumbent may be assigned under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) provisions.
