Description of the Department or Unit
With 11 full-time faculty members and 150 majors, the Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University is committed to a comparative and holistic approach to the study of the human experience. Our program provides a broad understanding of the origins as well as the meaning of physical and cultural diversity in the world – past, present, and future, and it offers the opportunity for understanding world affairs and crafting solutions to problems within the total context of the human experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a dynamic teacher-scholar committed to training undergraduate students. Instructional duties will include a 3:3 course load including introductory courses in sociocultural anthropology and upper level method and theory courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise.
Faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship and to participate in service activities including undergraduate advising.
