Key Responsibilities

Primary Role
This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Health and Wellness. The director of the Office for the Prevention of Interpersonal Violence will coordinate and facilitate educational programming and activities among Juniata College students, faculty, and staff, centering on the prevention of interpersonal violence and trauma informed support of victims and survivors. Working closely with the Senior Associate Dean of Health and Wellness and the Title IX staff at Juniata, the director will provide leadership for developing, implementing, and coordinating interpersonal violence awareness programs, activities and events that address issues of sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic violence, intimate partner/relationship/dating violence, and stalking. The director will collaborate with both on and off campus partners to develop educational and intervention strategies and response services by coordinating programs, workshops, and trainings to be provided by the external partners in the Coordinated Community Response Team ( CCRT ) and the Juniata CEVN (Juniata- Coalition to End Violence Now) collaboration. These activities include assisting in the development of training programs for students, faculty, and staff, and assisting in the development, communication, and expansion of policies and procedures that assist members of the campus community and the CCRT to address these issues. The director oversees prevention grants from state and national grantors.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of the SPoT (Safe Place tO Talk) including student workers, office suite, attending to drop-in students, social media, print media, and awareness raising of
interpersonal violence prevention.
• Assist the Senior Associate Dean of Health and Wellness to coordinate and facilitate quarterly CCRT (Coordinated Community Response Team) meetings with internal and external members of the Juniata- CEVN (Coalition to End Violence Now).
• In conjunction with the Deans and Title IX staff, participate in an ongoing review of College policies and procedures regarding interpersonal violence offenses.
• Work collaboratively with other departments on campus and with off-campus partners to develop and implement educational programs and publication materials to increase awareness about relevant issues, college and off-campus protocols, and available resources.
• Use technology to further educate and reach students on these issues- not limited to
increasing visibility about the Juniata- CEVN (Coalition to End Violence Now) program and related efforts to address interpersonal violence on campus.
• Organize, coordinate, and conduct campus and community partner meetings, trainings, and workshops.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with campus and community based agencies in an effort to increase effectiveness and coordination of services, including representing Juniata on area committees, task forces and social service agencies.
• Provide direct crisis intervention and advocacy services to students.
• Engage in outreach and specific educational programming for underrepresented students.
• Coordinate Green Dot, a campus-wide bystander intervention program.
• Encourage discussion about consensual sex in order to support positive changes in campus culture.
• Provide educational support and referral services to students individually and
in small groups.
• Attend local and national trainings to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
• Attend to grantor budgets, reports, and correspondence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with experience and training in one or more of the following
areas: Gender Studies, Women’s Studies, Violence Prevention, Social Work, Counseling,
Victim Advocacy or related. Three to five years professional work experience in sexual assault advocacy on a college campus desired. Master’s degree preferred.
• Current working knowledge of theory, practices, protocols, and response to
victims/survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and other forms of sex and
gender-based violence.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and with diverse individuals.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience in educational program design, implementation, and assessment.
• A record of personal and professional initiative, flexibility, integrity, and strong
communication skills, including public speaking and writing, as well as social media and
technology proficiency.
• Ability to effectively resolve conflict and cope with crisis situations.
• Candidates should possess values compatible with and supportive of the mission of Juniata College.
• Ability to understand confidentiality rights and maintain excellent records.
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel to meetings around the community.
• A strong sense of collaboration, consultation, cooperation, and professionalism when
working with diverse stake-holders toward the goals of the Juniata- CEVN project.
• An engaging personality, relatable to students.

Supervision Required/Given

This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Health and Wellness.

This position supervises work study students.
