Job Summary:
Furman University is a place where deep connections drive innovative thinking. Founded in 1826, Furman is the oldest private university in South Carolina. Today, Furman provides students a distinctive education in the fine arts, humanities, social sciences, mathematics and the sciences, as well as select professional disciplines, along with the experience of 18 NCAA Division I teams. To extend the University's exceptional reputation and its ability to continue to recruit, select and enroll a diverse and talented student body, Furman University seeks a new Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Job Description:

One of the nation's premier liberal arts and sciences universities, Furman consistently earns recognition for academic excellence, accessible professors, sustainability, and value and regularly ranks among the nation's best colleges. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Furman's 750-acre campus is also famous for its natural and architectural beauty. The University was named a Tree Campus USA for the 13th straight year, earned a STARS Gold rating for the third time in a row from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, and was included in Southern Living magazine's list of the “South's Most Beautiful Colleges.” Launched in 2016, The Furman Advantage combines a liberal arts education with immersive experiences outside the classroom, reflection, and mentoring and advising to create a personalized pathway that prepares students for lives of purpose, successful careers, and community benefit. This groundbreaking effort has received more than $52.5 million in support from The Duke Endowment.

Reporting to President Elizabeth Davis and serving on the senior administrative team, the Vice President for Enrollment Management will be an experienced, data-minded, and forward-looking leader who can build upon a considerable platform of enrollment success. The Vice President will lead an Enrollment Division that includes team members in enrollment services (registrar, student accounts, student employment, and veterans benefits), admissions, financial aid, and enrollment marketing and research. As an institution-wide leader, the Vice President will convey the vision for enrollment and engage the Furman community in important conversations about enrollment priorities.

The tradition of working across academic and administrative departmental lines is strong at Furman. As such, the University seeks an enrollment leader who is committed to collaboration, communication, and the sharing of information and data. The successful candidate will have a strong record of achieving enrollment and net revenue goals, an understanding of the art and science of enrollment, and the sophistication to discuss the priorities and tradeoffs when evaluating goals for enrollment as well as how to push innovation and advance the University's priorities. A belief in the value of a liberal arts and sciences education along with the ability to articulate its benefits is essential. In addition, the Vice President will share Furman's values of inclusive excellence and diversity. This includes embracing meaningful diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as embodied by both implicit values and explicit practices in all endeavors.

All applications, nominations and inquiries are invited. Applications should include, as two separate documents, a CV or resume and a letter of interest addressing the themes in the leadership profile available at wittkieffer.com. Professional references are not requested at this time.
