SUCCESS COACH - PROJECT COORDINATOR
GRANT FUNDED - TRANSPORATION, DISTRIBUTION, AND LOGISTICS
OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE
Olive-Harvey College is looking for a Success Coach (Project Coordinator) to support the operations of the Department of Family and Support Service (DFSS) grant funded program, serving as a dedicated advocate for students, from recruitment and enrollment to successful completion of the program. With support from DFSS, City Colleges of Chicago will help address the needs of Chicago’s workforce through expansion of apprenticeships and work-based learning training programs. The goal of these programs is to provide resources and access to short-term training certifications, work-based learning experiences and apprenticeships that will enable qualified Chicago residents to earn income during their on-the-job training experiences. These experiences will prepare participants to obtain employment sooner while putting them on a path to earn increased sustainable wages long term. This position works closely with students to monitor their academic progress to connect them with needed student support services and other campus resources to ensure retention and persistence toward program completion and academic success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with enrollment and admissions staff at OHC to promote the DFSS grant funded program
- Reviews student reports and applications to determine resources allocated to students based on programs and needs.
- Conducts program orientation to talk about expectations, opportunities and resources.
- Works with college staff to ensure students has scholarships and financial support as needed.
- Speaks with students regularly to engage, motivate and identify upcoming needs and supports.
- Works with advising team and faculty to address key student concerns with the goal of retention and academic success.
- Connects students with on campus supports including tutoring, wellness counseling, housing and food supports. Additionally, the grant has stipends and scholarships to issue to students in designated programs, the Success coach will assist with this task as well.
- Connects students with off campus supports through local community organizations.
- Responds to student’s emergency needs with additional funds in the grant.
- Assist with the development of response protocols for specific barriers to completion.
- Review and monitor DFSS records to ensure funds are allocated appropriately to student accounts.
- Assist with review of key performance indicators to prepare reports.
- Assist the Career services department with student finding employment upon completion of the training.
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college in Business, Education, social service, social work, workforce development or related field
- Three years relevant work experience
- Experience in administering student support programs in a college or nonprofit setting.
- Strong collaborator with excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with Culturally diverse student body, faculty and staff.
- Must be able to travel and connect with students as needed for academic and workforce assistance.
- Flexibility to work as needed on Weekends, not consistently but having availability for the students.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products-Word, Excel and Power point.
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
