Missouri State University-West Plains, one of the four campuses within the Missouri State University System, seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as its next chancellor. The chancellor is the chief administrative officer for the West Plains campus and advises the president on all matters pertaining to the West Plains campus.

 

Missouri State University-West Plains is a public, two-year, open admission, separately accredited campus of the Missouri State University System. With enrollment at approximately 2,000 students per semester, it specializes in providing quality education to students of all ages. The campus offers two-year Associate of the Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science degrees, certificates and other courses as needed by employers and citizens of the area served. A full college experience with quality instruction in a relaxed, personal atmosphere is the hallmark of Missouri State University-West Plains. The campus promotes academic and personal success for students through small classes, personalized attention, educational support services and numerous opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities.

 

Under the direction of the president, the chancellor serves as the senior executive officer of the West Plains campus, responsible for providing visionary leadership and general management of the campus units: student services, university communications, academic affairs, development, business and support services, information technology services and university/community programs. In support of the campus’ mission, vision, and goals, the chancellor demonstrates a commitment to instruction and student success, provides sound financial management, and advances fundraising efforts. The chancellor serves as the chief ambassador for Missouri State University-West Plains by building relationships with business, industry, alumni, educational institutions, civic organizations, and community leaders. The chancellor is a member of the central management team for the Missouri State University System and serves as a liaison with various campus constituencies.

 

 

The chancellor is expected to possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills that will allow projection of a strong and positive image of the university with parents, students, faculty, staff and other constituencies. The successful candidate for this position must hold a master’s degree, a record of experience that demonstrates commitment to equal opportunity, affirmative action, and the promotion of diversity, and have significant administrative and executive experience in business, education or government. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. This person will also need to have a deep understanding of and support for the teaching and learning process, and the effective use of technology.
