Job Description:

SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking an Assistant Registrar. Reporting to the Registrar, the Assistant Registrar is an essential part of a collaborative office environment in the Registrar's Office, supporting academic operations that require the use of the student information system (Banner). This position provides functional expertise in the use of the student information system, familiarity with program requirements, and knowledge of policies and procedures related to academic policies and procedures within the Registrar's Office. The Assistant Registrar assists with the daily operations of the Registrar's Office and will work with the Degree Works degree audit program. This position is also responsible for processing graduation applications for clearance, course scheduling, maintenance of Degree Works, maintenance of academic documentation, and assistance with registration and advisement services and providing associated reports as needed. This is a full-time, twelve-month position that reports to the Registrar and is a member of the Union of Faculty and Professionals. The position may include occasional evening or weekend assignments.    

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing monthly National Student Clearinghouse reports and error reconciliations.
  • Creates and maintains the master course schedule through close coordination with college Deans.
  • In collaboration with the Registrar, ensure the completion of Degree Works audits including all curriculum changes.
  • Assist with waiver and exception processing.
  • Provide campus training as new software functionality is introduced in Degree Works.
  • Develop and post the final exam schedule.
  • Complete graduation audits utilizing Degree Works and assist with other preparation for commencement.
  • Create, maintain, and improve business processes using new and existing technology to streamline the evaluation process and provide a higher level of service to both students and faculty.
  • Prepare summary reports, room assignments, faculty usage, etc.
  • Assist the Registrar with day-to-day operation of the office and assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Registrar
  • Other duties as assigned by the Registrar.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge and experience with college scheduling.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in higher education, preferably working in a Registrar's or similar, related office.
  • Familiarity with Banner or other SIS and PC applications
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work well on a team.
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, display an aptitude for technology, think analytically, and be easily adaptable to change
  • Commitment to the philosophy of the comprehensive community college

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge and experience with Degree Works.

Additional Information:

Salary: $49,000
