Position Summary

These positions report to the Director of CCS and are responsible for providing high-quality generalist mental health services. Strong candidates will have previous experience providing comprehensive mental health services to diverse client populations, a commitment to multiculturally-informed counseling, and an investment in training future professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides direct client care including initial consultation and assessment, individual and group counseling, referral services, and crisis intervention support
  • Provides outreach programming to the university community focused on topics related to mental health and self-care
  • Provides consultation services regarding mental health issues and students of concern to faculty/staff, students, and family/friends
  • Provides supervision and training for doctoral interns, practicum student trainees, and graduate assistants
  • Maintains accurate records in a timely and ethical manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications (SPS)
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field;
  • Must be licensed in the state of Illinois in professional discipline within 18 months of hire;
  • Clinical experience providing individual and group counseling;
  • Previous experience providing services to diverse clients and a demonstrated commitment to multicultural counseling competencies.
Additional Requirements (SPS)
  • Strong skills to provide outreach and psychoeducational programming on mental health topics;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (SPS)
  • Current licensure in the state of Illinois in professional field (e.g., LCPC or LCSW );
  • Prior experience in a university counseling center;
  • Experience providing supervision to graduate-level trainees in counseling, social work, or related field.
