The Director of Marketing and Communications creates a strategic, integrated, audience-focused marketing approach for the School of Social Work. This position works collaboratively to create and execute strategic marketing plans, develop marketing content (website copy, email drip campaigns, and social media posts), and coordinate the visual design and brand standards to deliver effective marketing campaigns (digital and print) and collateral to increase student enrollment. Real-time course correction and new initiatives will occur in each cycle, so this position is highly responsive, navigating both long-term projects and short-term needs throughout the year to successfully contribute to the sustainability of the School of Social Work’s programs in an expanding market.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in marketing and communications
  • 2 years of experience in digital marketing

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:

  • Excellent communication, planning and organization skills
  • Knowledge of recruitment marketing
  • Knowledge of online marketing
  • Ability to be creative and compellingly communicate a brand’s story
  • Cultural competency and ability to collaborate in a diverse team atmosphere
  • Writing, editing, and content distribution skills
  • Ability to be performance and optimization focused
  • Knowledge of goal setting
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, the web and measurement
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics or similar web analytics tools
  • Ability to be a strong collaborator, thought leader and facilitator

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience creating web content through CMS (Drupal experience preferred)
  • Experience with web/social monitoring tools
  • Experience with project management tools
  • Experience in higher education or public sector
  • Fluency with current technology developments digital tools and social media platforms. Ability to learn new systems
  • Expertise in using web design software, web design, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Working knowledge of email marketing tools, webinar platforms, Salesforce CRM, and Slate
