Administrative Coordinator (01317A) 

Provides coordination of faculty programming and performs a variety of high-level duties for executive-level office (Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs & Strategic Initiatives), including special events, projects, faculty awards, and faculty development initiatives and programs that impact the campus. Responsible for the Vice Provost and her/his leadership team. Provides leadership for all departmental functions to include planning, developing, and evaluating departmental operations. Serves as the first point of contact for the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Strategic Initiatives. Functions as departmental liaison to the colleges and educational constituents and represents the University on various committees. 

 

Required Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Exceptional computer and technical skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with and relate well to staff and external constituents at all levels of the University. Strong oral and written communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills, maintaining a high quality of work against pressing deadlines and producing accurate, detail-focused, professional output. Demonstrated skills in document development and proofreading for errors in content and clarity of message. Demonstrated ability to manage events with extensive attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal direct supervision. Demonstrated ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to interpret, explain, and apply complex policies. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Demonstrated ability to collect, compile, and analyze data. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve administrative problems. Considerable experience in an administrative support role for an executive level position. Considerable experience in program/event planning, office management. Some experience processing purchase requests, travel reimbursements, and ordering supplies. Some experience maintaining financial records.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent education, training and experience in a high-level administrative position. Considerable progressively responsible experience in an administrative support role for an executive level position in a college or university setting. Some knowledge of Old Dominion University policies and procedures. Some knowledge of Banner or equivalent relational database.

 

Conditions of Employment:
