The Associate Director of Investigations and Deputy Title IX Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director for Equity Compliance/Title IX Coordinator and assists the Executive Director with overseeing and/or conducting inquiries and investigations into reports of protected class discrimination and harassment. In consultation with the Executive Director, the Associate Director will review intake of information and conduct investigation of matters of bias, discrimination and harassment related to students, staff, faculty or visitors in compliance with federal and state laws and University policies and procedures. The Associate Director of Investigations and Deputy Title IX Coordinator also assists the Executive Director with the following: conducting inquiry into and performing consultative duties regarding reported matters; aiding in the annual review of University policy and procedures related to federal and state civil rights laws and providing subject-matter expertise on requirements of and compliance with non-discrimination federal and state laws; interacting with students, faculty, visitors, and staff members at all levels of the University to raise awareness of University Policy, procedures, and available resources; and providing assistance with campus climate assessment. This Associate Director of Investigations and Deputy Title IX Coordinator also assists with creating educational materials and conducting in-service training for the Resolution Process Pool and the greater campus community and helps with the facilitation of informal resolution as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Juris Doctorate OR Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, public administration, law, social work, counseling or similar field OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university with a minimum of three years of experience working in the areas of civil rights compliance, student conduct, human resources, or a similar area of work.
-Articulated knowledge of government regulations that pertain to students, faculty and University staff, such as Title IX, Title VII, Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other anti discrimination laws and regulations in an educational setting.
-Strong skills in the areas of conflict management, interviewing, and investigating interpersonal interactions.
-Experience in the areas of conflict resolution or trauma informed support services.
-Direct experience working with individuals in crisis either in an educational or employment context
-Experience exercising independent and sound judgment with the ability to remain impartial and neutral throughout the investigative process and in highly emotional situations.
-Experience managing difficult, confidential, and sensitive issues.
-Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively individually and as a member of a team.
-Experience conducting analysis and problem solving, and to present ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
-Effective written and verbal communication skills.
-Effective presentation skills.
-Supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

-Two years of recent experience conducting interviews or investigations in the area of conduct, human resources, civil rights compliance in education or employment.
-Familiarity with trauma informed investigation practices, fundamental fairness in process, and/or student conduct.
-Recent experience or education related to intercultural competencies, intimate partner violence and/or gender based misconduct.
-Experience working in higher education.
-Commitment to the mission and vision of the University of Dayton and its Catholic and Marianist charism.
-Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
