The Graduate College of Social Work (GCSW) at the University of Houston, a Carnegie Designated Tier One Research University, invites applications for part-time, non-tenure track adjunct faculty. At the GCSW, our vision is to achieve social, racial, economic, and political justice, local to global. We invite applicants whose teaching advances the social work profession and contributes to achieving this vision.
The GCSW is the largest graduate social work program located in Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States. Houston is an international and multicultural city, and the University and College reflect this diversity. Our MSW program is ranked in the top 10% of all social work programs nationwide and offers face-to-face, hybrid, and online curriculum options. This application is for a pool that will be available to the search committee for consideration in case the need arises for the 2023-2024 academic year. Fall teaching assignments will typically be assigned by June 1, and Spring teaching assignments will typically be assigned by December 1.

All adjunct faculty in the Graduate College of Social Work are required to have a Masters in Social Work degree from an accredited institution. A minimum of two years post-graduate practice is required. Prior affiliation with the GCSW and/or residence in the Greater Houston region is preferred. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to the GCSW’s vision and identify how their teaching contributes to this vision. The GCSW has a strong commitment to diversity in all areas and strongly encourages candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.
