Summary of Job Duties:The Technical Services Assistant is a classified position that works under the supervision of the Director of Library Services. The Technical Services Assistant performs detailed activities related to processing physical library resources necessary to support learning and research at UAFS. The position reports to the Director of Library Services.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree. One year of work experience in an office environment.

Preferred Qualifications: E xperience in library technical services. Bachelor’s degree.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Process physical library materials, including books, media, and ephemera, to ensure shelf-readiness.
  • Receive and process orders from vendors using electronic data interchange (EDI).
  • Create order records in the Integrated Library System.
  • Track shipments and ensure orders are correct and all items are received.
  • Maintain inventory of processing supplies to ensure continuous operations.
  • Staff the library’s front desk on Saturdays and at other times as needed.
  • Assist the Discovery and Access Librarian with tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Relationships: Has frequent contact with students, employees, and outside agencies.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 50 pounds. Routine work schedule Tuesday through Saturday (Fall and Spring semesters) or Monday through Friday (intersessions and Summer terms), 8:00am-5:00pm.

Salary Information:

Minimum starting salary $26,000/year
