Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Germanna Community College is seeking a part time-Administrative Assistant (AOS III) to support the office of Marketing & Recruitment. The successful candidate will provide general administrative support for the Director of Marketing & Recruitment, which include maintaining the department's marketing and recruitment calendars, maintaining up-to-date vendor list and key contact information, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, processing travel requests and reimbursements, purchasing and procurement support, maintaining departmental budgets, preparing, and responding to emails and communications on the Director's behalf, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Communicating with other departments as needed to support college wide marketing needs including promotional materials and event promotion information. Maintaining a source list to support college wide marketing purchases. Support formatting and maintaining mailing lists as needed based on vendor requirements. Support submitting event information to community calendars as required. Track and maintain college sponsorships and expenses. The successful candidate may also assist other members of the Marketing & Recruitment team as required.

Must be willing to travel to other locations as needed, which includes Fredericksburg, Locust Grove, Culpeper, and Stafford.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to learn new systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexibility to work at different locations as needed
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once and comfortable supporting a face-paced work environment


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree
  • Experience working as an Administrative Assistant in a college setting
  • Purchasing/procurement experience in eVA
