St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time Program Specialist - Industrial Technical Programs. The primary focus of this position will be to develop, plan, coordinate, implement and support workforce programs in various industrial fields for individuals of all ages. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to individuals who have experience and expertise in electrical/electronics, automation/robotics, HVAC/plumbing, machining, welding and/or safety areas. This role also includes coordinating with external partners, budget development and cost reconciliation, and customer service. Some programs may include overnight and out of town travel including some outdoor activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the development, planning, coordination, implementation, and support of new and/or existing courses/programs - with a primary focus on industrial skills and systems. Programs will include both credit and noncredit programs.

Contacts clients - internal and/or external, ascertain needs, develop, and deliver (coordinate where applicable) aspects of the training course(s). Activities could include on and off-campus locations/sites.

Program development and coordination includes procuring special materials, supplies, instructors to teach specific content and other program support staff. Coordination of these elements is from the beginning of the process to the completion of the program.

Prepares reports and monitors progress of students and training programs. Responsible for improving current programming as well as developing new programs to meet the needs of the current and future participants.

Schedules and/or assists in the scheduling of classrooms and public spaces, supporting on and off-site programming. Monitors classroom set-ups and equipment to ensure requirements for delivery of program and/or service are met.

Assists with the preparation and submission of reports, budgets, and/or applications for funding to support the development, implementation, and sustainability of programs, projects, and initiatives.

Engage in outreach and recruitment activities, including assisting with the development of promotional materials and strategies, as well as providing support for program/project registrations and intake as needed and/or applicable.

Promotes standards for the safe and efficient operation of the programs. Addresses any safety concerns that arise, and contributes to the creation of new processes when necessary to address them.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge and/or experience specifically in Industrial Sciences programming with a specific focus on industry 4.0 and manufacturing.

Six months of teaching; experience with K-12 preferred.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Strong communication and organizational skills are needed. The employee should possess the ability to work with a diverse group of people from all socio-economic levels and backgrounds. Being multi-lingual is a plus.

Willingness to be in different weather conditions and to be able to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to have quick solutions to the unexpected and to be able to carry out those solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic Life Saving along with CPR and First Aid credentials. These classes can be provided if necessary.

Industry certification preferred. i.e. HVAC License, Licensed Electrician, Licensed Plumber, OSHA trainer/instructor certification, CNC Certifications and/or successfully complete an industrial technical apprenticeship program in one of these or similar areas.

Work Hours

Work hours may vary based on the program schedule. Possible overnight and out-of-town travel to support program development, planning, and/or implementation. Ability to work in outside conditions, including heat and cold, humidity, and rain. The noise level of the work is moderate to loud, depending on specific programs and office locations.
