JMU is looking for a dynamic leader to direct its innovative X-Labs program. JMU X-Labs facilitates ecosystems that catalyze and cultivate high-impact engaged learning and research experiences for students and faculty. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Executive Director of JMU X-Labs reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Scholarship and Research Development in the Office of Research and Scholarship. The Director will provide leadership in the following areas:

• Strategic planning
• Managing external relationships with stakeholders and partners
• Serving as a liaison to academic units and other internal partners
• Overseeing business plans and budgets, including identifying funding streams
• Hiring and supervising Associate Directors and staff
• Human resource management and compliance
• Working with the Associate Directors to develop the X-Labs research agenda and communication plan
• Overseeing X-Labs data and product management

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in an affiliated field
• Administrative and leadership experience in a university or industry innovation setting
• Experience in building collaborative partnerships
• Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Experience with budget creation and oversight
• Experience communicating with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Experience mentoring students

Preferred Qualifications:

• Terminal or Professional degree
• Assessment of innovation outcomes
• Contributions in the field of innovation and/or innovation education
• Understanding of the history and trends of the innovation in education landscape
• Experience seeking external funding
