Faculty Position in Computer Science

Department of Computer Science of the Asian University for Women (AUW) invites applications for Computer Science faculty positions commencing in the Fall of 2023. The mission of the department is to educate and empower students to acquire computational knowledge while maintaining a strong mathematical foundation and to apply that knowledge to solve problems in science, engineering, industry, economics, and other social sciences where computation plays a significant role. AUW is a non-profit organization based in Chittagong, Bangladesh, that aims to educate and empower a growing network of female leaders via the transformative power of an American-style liberal arts and sciences education. Location:  Chittagong, Bangladesh

Required qualifications: Candidates must possess a PhD degree in Computer Science from a recognized university and have published in prestigious journals as well as subject-matter journals/conferences. Candidates applying for Assistant Professor positions should demonstrate a strong aptitude for conducting high-impact research. Candidates for Associate and Full Professor positions should have an outstanding record of research accomplishments and a strong dedication to service, mentoring, graduate teaching, attracting external funding and making an impact in multidisciplinary research.

Expected to teach: Introduction to Computing and Programming (C, Python), Object Oriented Programming (C++/Java/Python), Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management Systems and Web Application, Computer Communications Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Robotics, Computer and Network Security.

Expected engagement duration: 3 years, renewable

Duties: Develop computer science curriculum, including individual course syllabi as assigned. Deliver lectures, conduct tutorials, quizzes, and prepares assignments on the assigned courses.  

Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to students.  

Supervise students in developing and implementing senior thesis projects including guiding them in data analysis, thesis writing and presentation. Attract funding and engage in research.  

Provide leadership and service on academic committees. Assist in assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes, and achieving institutional performance measures. Design and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success. Actively participate in professional development activities to improve skills in several modes of instruction and knowledge of learning. Accept and participate in the necessary training to offer courses through different delivery methods such as online learning, accelerated learning, and competency-based education. Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge in collaboration with our colleagues and publish the outcomes/findings in professional journals.
