Director of Recruitment and Employer Development

Primary Purpose of Position:
North Carolina Central School of Law Office of Career Services and Professional Development is seeking a Director. This position will have a significant, hands-on, individualized interaction with students and alumni providing career guidance, strategy, and support throughout the law school experience and beyond. It will also involve interaction with employers to increase the number of JD advantage opportunities available to our students.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in either the private or public sector and will be tasked with creating and overseeing all programming, counseling, and strategy related to their sector (public or private) while providing support to advance the goals of the Career Services Office. The Director will provide career counseling to JD students and alumni on careers in the private sector (law firms and corporations), the public sector (public interest organizations, including summer internships and fellowships), the state and federal government, and JD advantage jobs in areas like compliance.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Required Qualifications
• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
• 3 years of legal practice experience

Desired Qualifications
• Mastery of either the public or private sector legal market
• Ability to recruit employers in JD advantage jobs to increase the pool of employment opportunities for our students
• Knowledge of best practices in professional development
• Demonstrated ability to self-start and collaborate
• Excellent communication in all forms
• Ability to leverage extensive contacts in the public or private sector

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of success in programming, networking, and building partnerships within the legal industry as well as demonstrated experience in recruiting employers.
