The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured, renewable faculty position in Biomedical Engineering, at the level of Industry Assistant or Associate Professor, with a start date of September 1, 2023.
NYU recently established a new Department of Biomedical Engineering to build a bridge between its schools of engineering and medicine. The department currently offers MS and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering and is in the process of establishing a new BS degree program. Our mission is to excel in research, teaching, and entrepreneurship. We aim to inspire and educate engineers for the 21st century. Students at all levels are engaged in projects leading to new engineering approaches and technologies to promote human health. Biomedical Engineering is inherently multidisciplinary, and the new department reflects that breadth in its faculty, educational programs, and research.
An Industry Professor's primary roles are teaching, mentoring, and educational innovation. The position may also entail some administrative work and outreach. The normal teaching load is three courses per academic semester.

The candidate should be an excellent teacher and be able to teach classroom and laboratory courses in biomechanics, biomaterials, and medical robotics/prosthetics as applied to rehabilitation. Knowledge in biomedical instrumentation, biostatistics, and computational modeling is a plus. The candidate must have a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field and a record of industrial or academic teaching experience in these areas.
