Job Description

The Finance Department in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time renewable non-tenure track position in Real Estate at the rank of Professor of Practice, beginning in July 2023.
The selected candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses and manage the Kuhn Real Estate Center.
The Real Estate program has seen notable growth in recent years and is becoming a source of potential distinctive excellence for the Whitman School.
The highly-resourced Kuhn Center leads student-oriented activities and experiential and industry-focused learning experiences for Real Estate students.
The successful candidate for this position will be in a strong position to lead the growth and further development of the Kuhn Center in conjunction with a highly dedicated alumni base, strong industry connections in NYC and elsewhere, an advisory board, and growing student demand.
This position will also offer the opportunity to assist in curriculum development in Real Estate and collaborate with other individuals and programs at Syracuse University interested in Real Estate.
There are staff at the Whitman School dedicated to supporting the success of the individual in this role, including in areas related to marketing communications, corporate relations, and experiential programs.

Qualifications
  • The successful candidate for this position will have a proven record of excellence in Real Estate, including demonstrated set of industry contacts, the ability to work well with others, and the development of innovative ideas for growth. A graduate degree in Real Estate or a related field is required. Candidates with prior teaching experience, especially in Real Estate, will be strongly preferred.
  • Candidates will be evaluated according to the quality of academic preparation and industry experience, teaching ability as well as the potential to manage, promote and expand a student-focused academic center. The Whitman School is seeking candidates whose teaching and impressive professional background and experience have prepared them to contribute to the School’s and the University’s strategic commitments to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Completed graduate degree and professional certifications in Real Estate or related field.
  • Substantial professional experience and industry contacts in Real Estate, with a preference for network and experience in NYC .
  • Potential for high-quality teaching and managing a student-oriented academic center. – Ability and willingness to contribute to service-related initiatives and organizational leadership in the Real Estate area.
  • Collegial, with strong verbal and communication skills, interpersonal skills to work well with students, faculty, and alumni, and with a proclivity for problem-solving and innovation.
  • Must be comfortable working with students of diverse backgrounds, including international students.
Responsibilities
  • Teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Manage the Kuhn Real Estate Center, emphasizing a set of student-oriented activities, a mandate to develop new student-oriented programming with alumni and industry, and promote the Kuhn Center activities across Whitman and Syracuse University, as well as with industry partners and alumni.
