The individual who is hired into this position will be responsible for teaching courses to prepare students for professional careers in environmental horticulture and landscape design/installation/management. This position is responsible for teaching HORT 330 “Landscape Plants for Urban and Community Environments”, HORT 331 “Landscape Plant Installation and Management”, and a minimum of two additional undergraduate courses per year, which may include nursery management, interior plantscaping, introductory horticulture, or other courses as appropriate for the successful candidate. This position will prepare students to pass state exams to become "Certified Professional Horticulturists", particularly through teaching plant identification and environmental function.
The duties for this position also include participating in curriculum development and assessment, supporting student recruitment activities, assisting in advising the Hort Club at WSU, managing the Horticulture Display Garden, participating in green industry activities with students, and fostering a productive relationship with Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association.
Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in: Environmental Horticulture, Landscape Management, Agricultural Education, or a related degree.

Minimum 5 years post-college graduation experience in landscape management industry and/or teaching environmental or landscape horticulture at secondary or higher education levels.

A combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
