Description
The School of Nursing at Stony Brook University invites/seeks applications for a full-time faculty position. Candidates are expected to provide evidence of an established program of research and funding, along with recent examples of interprofessional collaboration and scholarship. Experience in senior academic leadership and/or in growing and maintaining an Office of Research is preferred.

As an Associate Professor/Professor, you are expected to contribute to the educational, research, clinical, and service mission of the School of Nursing. The Associate Dean for Nursing Research and Innovation (ADR) will report directly to the Dean and provide strategic vision and leadership to expand nursing research and scholarship within the school.

The expectation of the role is to provide direction and operational oversight for the School of Nursing's (SON) Office of Research and develop and grow the overall research agenda for the school. This individual should be prepared to lead and collaborate with other faculty and researchers, both internally and externally to the SON, to maintain a revenue stream into the school through grants, scholarships, and other funding resources. The ADR will be expected to provide guidance and mentorship to SON faculty and students in an effort to increase scholarship and lead new researchers. The ADR will also be charged with continuing ongoing research and scholarship activities and creating new opportunities to meet the strategic vision of the school and of the University as a whole.

All candidates should be prepared to pursue the Scholarship of Teaching in the development of critically reflective knowledge about teaching and learning. Such an approach emphasizes the development, testing, and dissemination of advances in both pedagogy and andragogy. The ADR will be expected to teach at least one course per year and will have oversight of the PhD program, working closely with the PhD Program Director. All candidates should be prepared to mentor students as future nurse leaders, be committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and foster collaborative interdisciplinary learning experiences that expand student understanding of patient-centered care.

Candidates are also expected to contribute to the tripartite mission of a major research intensive university by contributing to the research, education and service mission of the university. Candidates will be expected to compete for federal and foundation grants.

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Nursing or Related Field

• Established Program of Research with Evidence of Extramurally Funded Grants

• Distinguished Record of Interprofessional Collaboration and Scholarship

• Hold or be eligible for a valid NY State professional nurse license

• Six or More Years of Upper Division Teaching Experience

• Strong Record of Teaching and Mentoring Students and Faculty

Preferred Qualifications:

• Senior Academic Leadership Experience or Equivalent

• Experience with Leading an Office of Research
