Purpose of Position

Northern Kentucky University, 7 miles from downtown Cincinnati, is seeking two innovative and visionary Faculty in our developing Entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program. As a founding member of the entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, the Faculty are in a unique position to design and initiate curriculum and classroom experiences that develop occupational therapy leaders committed to the program’s mission of promoting an innovative environment to facilitate excellence in academics, entry-level occupation-based practice, collaborative engagement, professionalism, and leadership within a global context to promote health through occupational performance. NKU is committed to assembling a diverse faculty team that has a strong commitment to student success and is focused on creating unique experiential learning opportunities to prepare students for today’s ever-changing healthcare environment. The Faculty are responsible for the development and delivery of curriculum and scholarship required by ACOTE standards. Occupational Therapy Faculty work collaboratively to advance the program’s mission and build effective relationships with administration, faculty, staff, student, and community members to support the curriculum. These are full-time, 10-month, core faculty positions.

Primary Responsibilities

Occupational Therapy Faculty are responsible for the design and implementation of syllabi, assignments, readings, learning activities, exams, scholarship, and experiences in the classroom, clinic, community, and/or virtual environments based on current best practice in occupational therapy to meet student course learning outcomes, program outcomes, and ACOTE standards. Occupational Therapy Faculty must demonstrate values of professionalism, collegiality, collaboration, integrity, leadership, and respect for inclusion and diversity. Occupational Therapy Faculty must establish and maintain an inclusive learning and working environment with respect for all. Occupational Therapy Faculty also serve on departmental, school, college, and university committees, and provide service in various areas. The position is full-time, Academic Year, non-tenure track renewable with competitive salary.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution, NBCOT certification, eligibility for Kentucky licensure, and at least two years of clinical experience in occupation therapy. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments. Excellent collaboration, innovation, problem-solving, and leadership skills are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in scholarship, academia, neuroscience, and diverse clinical/community settings.
