Job Summary:
The Associate Director for Recruitment and Community is responsible for: working with community partners, including public and private schools, to recruit and retain Hispanic Center students. The Associate Director will coordinate recruitment events in the community beyond campus, in collaboration with FDU Admissions; and organize and oversee inclusive community events on campus sponsored by the Hispanic Center, e.g., films, holiday celebrations, panel discussions, in order to foster student connectedness and belonging at the Hispanic Center and at FDU . The Associate Director for Recruitment and Community is a 12-month staff position and reports to the Executive Director.
Required Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree in Higher Education or any Liberal Arts discipline required.
2. Minimum two years of experience working with admissions (program marketing, student recruitment, new student orientation, and financial aid) in higher education preferred.
3. Fluency in both English and Spanish required to make formal presentations in either language.
4. Excellent oral and written communication in both English and Spanish required.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build community on and beyond campus and work effectively with diverse stakeholders required.
6. Experience in K-12 and/or higher education required in the US in contexts with Hispanic-identifying student populations.
7. Experience working with community organizations preferred.
8. Familiarity with the Hispanic communities of North Jersey preferred.
9. Familiarity with cultural traditions and practices of Hispanic communities from diverse Hispanophone countries preferred.
10. Must be available to work non-standard hours as required, including evenings and weekends.
11. Valid driver’s license and accessibility to transportation for travel in tri-state area.
12. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
