Job Summary

The Job Coach will provide on-the-job support to students in the SEA@FGCU program. The Job Coach’s main responsibilities are to ensure students experience a successful supported employment internship and provide additional support to students in vocational courses. Students complete internships with a variety of employers in the community while working on resume writing, interviewing skills, and general vocational skills on FGCU’s campus.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop and implement strategies to help students overcome employment-related challenges.
  • Collect data and maintain accurate record of students’ progress.
  • Liaison between program coordinator and employer to ensure a positive experience for all parties.
  • Teaching students hard and soft skills related to their position. Scaffolding back supports as student independence increases.
  • Consulting with program coordinator on student progress and areas of needed support.
  • Reviewing student resumes and providing feedback.
  • Practicing interviewing skills with students.
  • Providing academic support related to vocational courses to students during weekly meetings.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Education Paraprofessional certification
  • Previous job coaching experience with a high school transition program, post-secondary transition program, community service provider, etc.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
