Overview
Reporting to the Executive Associate Director of Athletics for Finance & Administration, the Assistant Director of Athletics for Budget & Planning is responsible for athletic budget development, forecasting and day-to-day management of Athletics’ highly complex budget. The Assistant Director of Athletics will be responsible for financial reporting to all constituents, including departmental staff and University administration, 17 varsity friends groups, as well as compilation and submission of the annual NCAA and EADA reports. This position will also have oversight of the technology support function and staff and will be responsible for business development and supporting the Executive Associate Director of Athletics in the areas of financial strategy, use of strategic funds as well as staff education on financial management related to the Athletics budget. This position will also provide event management support as needed.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for the development, management and forecasting of Athletics complex budget, working closely with the Executive Associate Director of Athletics for Finance & Administration and with support from the other Finance & Administration staff. Includes oversight of Hyperion budgeting tool.
• Oversight of the development and management of summer camp finances • Responsible for the monthly and quarterly composition and review of the general funds budget
• Serve as direct backup to the Executive Associate Director of Athletics for the annual fiscal close process and direct support by managing the daily reporting process that drives the financial decision-making process • Responsible for the compilation and review of all financial reporting from Athletics, including: Annual NCAA Report, EADA Report, Varsity Friends Group Finances. General Funds Budget Reporting and Strategic Funds Reporting. • Oversight of the technology function including direct oversight of the Athletics Technical Support Analyst, review and approval of department’s short-term and long-term annual technology needs
• Responsible for the development and management of the Athletics Technical Support Analyst • Serve as liaison to the external auditors related to the annual NCAA Report audit. In addition, serve as liaison to the Office of Audit and Compliance on all matters related to areas of responsibility
• Chart of Accounts administration to include management and maintenance of department chart of accounts file and determination of appropriate chart strings for all activity
• Serve as backup to the Executive Associate Athletic Director on all Ivy League CFO calls and meetings
• Responsible for business development and supporting the Executive Associate Director of Athletics in the areas of financial strategy, use of strategic funds as well as staff education on financial management related to the Athletics budget. • Approval of all Concur expenditures for all athletic administrative units. • Create and fulfill PRIME purchase orders, requisition
• Review and approval for departmental journals • Responsible for revenue generation as well as business development opportunities to drive external revenue
• Provide feedback to the Executive Associate Director of Athletics for F&A on all matters related to areas of responsibility including, by not limited to, annual needs, staff performance and concerns, key performance metrics, etc.
• Provide event management support as needed through the direction of the Associate Director of Athletics for Event Operations
• Understand and comply with the rules and regulations of the University, the Ivy League and the NCAA
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required Five years budget/finance experience Demonstrated experience working with complex budget, including experience with budget development, management and forecasting
Demonstrated competence with the Microsoft Office package with strong Excel skills a must
Demonstrated ability to manage several tasks and/or projects simultaneously
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to work well in a fast paced, ever changing environment and prioritize projects
Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to customer service
Adhere to Ivy League, ECAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
