ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary: The Office of Academic Affairs at Colorado Mesa University is a team of dedicated professionals who work together to oversee and manage academic programs and initiatives. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced University Registrar to join our team. Reporting to the Office of Academic Affairs, the University Registrar will play a critical role in managing the university's academic records, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of student data, and providing support to faculty and staff in a range of academic initiatives.

The primary office services include oversight of registration, academic records, transfer evaluation, degree audit, grades, transcripts, diplomas, certification of degree candidates, course scheduling, academic space utilization, athlete academic eligibility, and veteran benefits certification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for all activities pertaining to the Office of the Registrar.
  • Monitor, develop and implement core business processes and procedures related to the office services in line with campus enrollment and student retention initiatives.
  • Oversee the implementation and effective use of software systems for student information, degree audit, class scheduling, classroom scheduling and other Registrar-related products.
  • Collaborate with other departments across the university to ensure seamless support for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide leadership in the creation, implementation, and enforcement of academic policies and procedures.
  • Maintain operational functions of the Registrar's Office in accordance with university, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Manage and ensure the accuracy of the student academic records.
  • Provide FERPA expertise and oversight for proper FERPA policies and practices.
  • Monitor trends in registrar services and technology applications to provide strategic input in support of enhanced services for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Utilize technology and data to support decisions.
  • Responsible for the leadership and supervision of the office staff.
  • Prepare and maintain the budget for Office of the Registrar.
  • Serve on committees as appropriate.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a university registrar's office or similar role with at least two years of supervisory experience within the office and a history of progressive experience/growth in responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of academic policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of constituents.
  • Demonstrated technical, data, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
